Why pay someone to do what you can do yourself. There are free sites for each state that allow business owners to file their own Corporations. This was a surprise for me, because before I found this out, I had 3 corporations already, and had paid $300 - $500 each to have them filed. There is no trick words or extra special paperwork that needs to be filled out.
If you go to the Secretary of State (SOS) website for you State, you can look under businesses or corporations, and easily find the generic forms that are made up by the State as a format to follow.
When preparing to fill out the paperwork, there are only a couple of things that you will need. You will need:
1. The type of Corporation that you will be forming like: LLC, LLP, Inc, Non Profit, etc.
2. Know who the members of the organization will be with their Social Security Number, Address, and Marital Status.
3. Most Important... The name of the Business
4. The time that you want this business to be alive (Usually 99 years)
5. What are the positions of the members like: president, vice president, secretary, treasurer, etc
6. You will also need a Registered Agent. We have always used our Lawyer or our Accountant as our Agent. The person has to be able to reasonably speak on your behalf if questions arise about the business or the corporation.
7. And lastly, you will need to be able to pay the State Fees as mandated by your particular State. They average $65 to $125.
